Not sure whether there’s anything that can truly prepare you for parenthood (not the movie, though Keanu was a bit of an eye opener…), but the lovely people at New Baby Company will definitely make you feel more Supernanny than Britney. They’re based in Notting Hill and Wandsworth, and their Birth & Beyond classes come highly recommended – has anyone got 1st hand experience?
What can pregnant women in the city wear? September 20, 2006

My fantastic friend Rebecca at Melba and I were interviewed yesterday for City AM. The conversation obviously turned to the difficulties that pregnant women in the city face – not least of all the hassle of finding decent, stylish peices to wear. We know that Top Shop’s disposable pieces are fab, that you can now find a whole host of wrap dresses, drapey jersey trousers and pretty kaftans on the high street, but the look is often more Soho than Citybank. Which is why we were very interested to see that Thomas Pink have launched a range of maternity shirts; classic, tailored, sharp – a great investment piece and a winner in our book. What other brands would you recommend?

Wouldn’t it be great all the best pregnancy and maternity sites could be collated? Those that offer impartial, but authoritative advice, those that provide friendly and accessible community forums, some that feature great fashion, others great deals, a kind of Martin Lewis’s Money-Saving-Monthly for maternity? (if you don’t know that either, click this.)
We’re keen to try. So 1st up on our list is Babyworld.co.uk. Great advice, a large range of products tested by their ‘readers’ (helps that there’s a nice one of our Canelle bra), and a fantastically comprehensive community site. Hope you like it – let us know!
