We like feedback August 24, 2006

As a nation, we’re pretty bad at giving feedback – both good and bad… which is why it’s so surprising when you do get some, and more so when it’s positive! We were asked by babyworld.co.uk to submit our underwear for review, and their tester emailed us within minutes to say this about our Praline maternity bra “Thanks so much for the bra to test out for babyworld.co.uk. It’s a lovely bra and fits perfectly. It’s very comfortable too.” We were pretty chuffed, especially since it was a 32F – not an easy size to get right!
It’s made our day. So at the risk of sounding cheesy, we’ve decided to give more praise where praise is due.
Isn’t it nice when things just…work? August 18, 2006

We feel a little bit like those guys at Honda must have felt… We’ve just received our gold seals from our Autumn/Winter 06 delivery, and we’re totally over the moon with them all, especially the fit and beautiful quality of the finish. It makes the last 6 months of precision managing all worthwile. We can’t wait for the bulk to arrive at our warehouse and to get them off to our lovely customers. Isn’t it nice when things just… work?
What do pregnant women really feel? August 16, 2006

A lot of our customers recommended that we work with BabyList - a fabulous independent consultancy service which helps mums-to-be choose the ‘right’ kit for the new baby, from cots to christening invitations, via breast pumps and baby monitors. They listen to each client’s circumstances and requirements and carefully explain the pros and cons of each product.
Unfortunately, this is what they say about maternity underwear: “There is a time for luxurious, exotic nightwear and underwear. This is not it.” To be honest, it’s not the first time we’ve had this reaction from shops, midwives and magazines, but it runs completely counter to what we hear from our customers. One of them summarised this neatly: “That is clearly not written by someone who has ever been pregnant!!”
What do you think? Is pregnancy a time when luxury is no longer relevant? What do pregnant women really feel?
Help us cast our new model August 15, 2006

It’s time for our new Spring/Summer collection and we’re trying to find the ‘right’ model for our brand. With so much pressure on women to stay thin during their pregnancies (and let’s not even talk about post-baby-washboard-Geri!) I feel really strongly that we should play against this trend and use healthy, glowing women with curves in all the right places. It would be great to hear which of these models you think best represents our brand: Rebecca, Leigh Ann, Kayleigh or Bexy (recent shot above)?
Can you ever have too many pairs of flip-flops? August 9, 2006

The inspiration for creating a limited edition flip flop for the End Fistula campaign came from a similar project we saw for Save the Children. Their eye-catching, pretty design of a child swinging under a willow tree and great quality make them that perfect flip-flop; not too smart but not too beachy. I’m sure all of you have got tons of flip-flops, but you can never have too many pairs, especially when they’re for a good cause. We saw them featured on Daily Candy and Urban Junkies - two of our favourite daily newsletters, full of unusual and creative things to do and buy, places to visit and places to eat… We would definitely recommend signing up – do let us know whether you know of any similar newsletters.
Help us raise awareness of Fistula August 8, 2006

We are about to start a project to raise funds for Renew – the campaign to end Fistula. in developing countries. We will be working with a women’s working co-op in South America to create limited edition flip flops which will be sold alongside our maternity swimwear. It makes sense for us as a company which makes luxury maternity underwear when you look at the stark differences between our privileged pregnant customers and the 100,000 women who have to suffer such pain and indignity. By leaving us feedback and comments below about the product’s development, you too can help.

Welcome to Amoralia’s blog. We will be writing about our new collection’s development from first thoughts to a shiny new range of beautiful maternity lingerie, which, hopefully, you’ll like as much as we do. Look forward to hearing your comments.
